Biography
David KREHER is an Associate Professor of Chemistry in UPMC who received a Ph.D. in organic and materials chemistry, Universities of Angers (France) and Zaragoza (Spain) in 2001: project of 4 years in Angers, funded by CNRS (National Centre of Scientific Research) and including 1 year’ studies and formation (HPLC, MS, RPE) in Zaragoza and Barcelona (Spain), a Post-graduate diploma before the Ph.D., specialization in materials chemistry (DEA Chimie Fine) at the Science Faculty, University of Angers, an Engineer's diploma at Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier (ENSCM), a leading National College of chemical engineering, a Postgraduate engineering degree, equivalent to M. Sc. plus one year specialisation in organic and materials chemistry, biochemistry and environment and aMaster of Science specializing in physical chemistry, University of Grenoble, including 9 months’ studies in Montreal and Ottawa (CANADA) through an exchange between France and Quebec, David Kreher became a part of the ENSTA ParisTech by integrating the department of chemical engineering.
Research Interest
2D-3D self-assembled systems, organic chemistry, electrochemistry, optoelectronic materials, organic emissive materials. Current search includes design, synthesis and studies of (macro) molecular materials for organic electronics, bipyridazine biphasic fluo / phosphorescent transmitters.
Biography
Dr Shouxun Ji is currently a Lecturer at BCAST. He is focusing on developing lightweight materials and structures for the automotive industry, including purpose developed aluminium and magnesium alloys with improved ductility, strength, modulus, or thermal conductivity, and the hybrid structures using different materials. He is also working on new materials for aerospace application, such as materials for explosive cords and high strength casting materials for aircraft. Meanwhile, he is in charge of all the equipment specification, planning and supply in the AMCC 1 and 2 programmes. Before rejoining Brunel in October 2010, Dr. Ji was a Manager at Arcadia, leading a team working on various projects to develop products and managing supply chains. Prior to that Dr. Ji was the Chief Engineer of BCAST, specializing in semi-solid processing of rheo-die casting, rheo-extrusion and rheo-twin roll casting. Dr. Ji has worked on a number of projects within casting technology including green sand and resin-bonded sand, core-making and moulding process, foundry machinery, lost foam process, gravity casting, low pressure die casting, centrifugal casting and high pressure die casting. He has first-hand experience on cast irons (spheroidal graphite cast iron and austempered ductile iron), aluminium alloys, copper alloys and magnesium alloys. He is also familiar with design of casting equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic system, and plc control system.
Research Interest
Currently, his research projects include (1) light weight materials for automotive industry, especially super ductile aluminium alloys and magnesium alloys, (2) high pressure die casting of thin-wall casting, (3) semi-solid processing of aluminium alloys and magnesium alloys.
Biography
Paolo Arosio is currently a fixed-term researcher at Physics Department of Universita’ degli Studi di Milano. His main research activity regards the magnetism of nanoparticles and magnetic materials, the morpho-dimensional studies on biological samples and porosity studies for Cultural Heritage materials at MIMA lab of the Physics Department, collaborating with numerous Italian and European research groups. Since 2011 P.A. is responsible of NMR experimental activity of his research group.
Research Interest
His research interests are in general in magnetism applied to material science and Nanomedicine. Within this framework, in his group they make use of NMR spectroscopy and relaxometry, magnetic fluid hyperthermia, SQUID magnetometry, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Atomic Force Microscopy techniques. The systems of interest are magnetic nanoparticles (fundamental properties and applications), molecular nanomagnets, native biological systems (e.g. membranes) and so on.
Biography
Hanshan Dong received his PhD degree in Surface Engineering in 1997 and became a full professor in 2010 at the University of Birmingham, Birmingham UK. He is Professor of Surface Engineering and Leader of Surface Engineering Research Group at the University of Birmingham. He is the Co-Director of EPSRC Doctor Training Centre in Metal Processing (IMPaCT) and a Fellow of IoM3. He is a leading surface engineering expert in developing novel surface engineering technologies for multi-functional surfaces and in characterisation of surface engineered materials. He won the Harvey Flower Titanium Prize awarded by IoM3 in recognition of his contribution to the science and technology of surface engineering of titanium alloys. He is active in international surface engineering activities including visiting professorships, plenary and invited lectures to major international conferences, organisation of national and international conferences. He is the Deputy Editor of ‘‘Chinese Surface Engineering'', Associate Editor, “International Journal of Surface Engineering and Interdisciplinary Materials Science†and on the editorial board of many other academic journals. In addition to six patents, about 300 papers have been published (including 200 journal papers).
Research Interest
He is a leading surface engineering expert in developing novel surface engineering technologies (including S-phase surface engineering of corrosion resistant alloys, ceramic conversion of Ti- and Zr-based alloys, plasma multi-functionalisation of carbon-based nano-materials, combined surface alloying and patterning for high-efficacy antibacterial surfaces, and low-friction & anti-adhesion coatings); in surface designing and modelling; and in characterising surface engineered materials using environmental nanoindentation, FIB/SEM & XTEM.
Biography
Prof. Porfyrakis is an Associate Professor of Materials, an EPSRC Fellow and the Head of the Laboratory for Carbon Nanomaterials at the Department of Materials, University of Oxford. He is also a visiting Professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He holds an Undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (1995) and an MSc Degree from UMIST, Manchester, UK (1996). After completing his DPhil at Oxford University in 2000, Prof. Porfyrakis has established a world-leading laboratory for the production and purification of both nitrogen-containing and metal-containing endohedral fullerene molecules. Prof. Porfyrakis has attracted over £2.5 M in funding as a Principal Investigator in the fields of endohedral fullerenes and organic electronics. He has over 100 publications (h-index: 26, i10-index: 51) that have attracted over 2330 citations. He has presented over 40 invited lectures and seminars, including 3 keynote lectures. In 2005 he won the Alan Glanvill Award of IOM3. In 2016 Prof. Porfyrakis has been admitted as a Fellow at the Royal Society of Chemistry for his contributions to Chemical Sciences. Prof. Porfyrakis is the Academic founder and Director of Designer Carbon Materials Ltd (www.designercarbon.com), a spinout company of the University of Oxford, aiming to commercialise endohedral fullerenes and their derivatives. Biography
Hosam Saleh is a professor of radioactive waste management at the Radioisotope Department, Atomic Energy Authority, Egypt. He was awarded MSc and Ph.D. degrees in Physical Chemistry from Cairo University. Saleh has more than 25 years of experience in hazardous waste management with an emphasis on treatment and developing new matrixes for the immobilization of these wastes. He is also interested in studying innovative economic and environment-friendly techniques for the management of hazardous and radioactive wastes. He authored many peer-reviewed scientific papers and chapters and served as a Book Editor of several books related to international publishers. He has been selected among the top 2% of scientists in the world according to the Stanford University report for 2020 and 2021. He is also a reviewer, an Editor in Chief or Associate Editor for different journals as well as a member of the Technical Program Committee for international conferences. He gained the Scientific Encouragement Award from Atomic Energy Authority (2013), Encouragement Prize in Advanced Technical Sciences from the Academy of Scientific Research (2014).

Ephraim Suhir is on the faculty of the Portland State University, Portland, OR, USA, Technical University, Vienna, Austria and James Cook University, Queensland, Australia. He is also CEO of a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) ERS Co. in Los Altos, CA, USA, is Foreign Full Member (Academician) of the National Academy of Engineering, Ukraine (he was born in that country); Life Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Society of Optical Engineers (SPIE), and the International Microelectronics and Packaging Society (IMAPS); Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS), the Institute of Physics (IoP), UK, and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE); and Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Ephraim has authored 400+ publications (patents, technical papers, book chapters, books), presented numerous keynote and invited talks worldwide, and received many professional awards, including 1996 Bell Laboratories Distinguished Member of Technical Staff (DMTS) Award (for developing effective methods for predicting the reliability of complex structures used in AT&T and Lucent Technologies products), and 2004 ASME Worcester Read Warner Medal (for outstanding contributions to the permanent literature of engineering and laying the foundation of a new discipline “Structural Analysis of Electronic Systemsâ€). Ephraim is the third “Russian Americanâ€, after S. Timoshenko and I. Sikorsky, who received this prestigious award. This year he received the 2019 IEEE Electronic Packaging Society (EPS) Field award for seminal contributions to mechanical reliability engineering and modeling of electronic and photonic packages and systems and Int. Microelectronic Packaging Society’s (IMAPS) Lifetime Achievement award for making exceptional, visible, and sustained impact on the microelectronics packaging industry and technology.

Biography
Rami Ahmad El-Nabulsi holds a PhD in Particle Physics, Mathematical Physics and Modeling from Provence University (currently Aix-Marseille University), France and a diploma of advanced studies in Plasma Physics and Radiation Astrophysics from the same institution. He worked with different worldwide research departments in UK, South Korea, China, Greece, Thailand, India, etc. and he is currently affiliated to Chiang Mai University, Thailand. He is the author of more than 295 peer-reviewed papers in peer-refereed reputed journals and a reviewer for more than 100 scientific journals. His research ranges from applied mathematics to theoretical physics including nonlinear dynamical systems, space and astrophysics, general relativity and geometrical physics, physics and chemistry of solids, plasma MHD, neutronics and nuclear reactors, superconductivity and magnetic materials among others.
